How do I become a Christian? Part 2 Immersion

How do I become a Christian?
·      Hear the Word (Audibly & Spiritually)
·      Respond (Believe, Repent, & Confess)
·      Die to Self & Unite with Christ (Immersed in Water : Baptism)

Hear the Word ● Respond to the Word ● Do the Word

Baptism (ˈbapˌtizəm) - the religious rite of immersion of an individual in water, symbolizing purification, regeneration and admission to the Christian faith.

Baptism is a public profession of faith in Jesus Christ. It is the declaration of a believer that they have received Christ into their life and have become a “new Creation” in Him. Christian Baptism is … A Sacrament: A Outward and Visible Representation of a inward and invisible reality!

Sign of Conversion: Matthew 28:16-20
Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing (immersing) them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Death to the former things: Colossians 2:12
“…having been buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also raised up with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead.”

As a way of Life and Eternal Life: Romans 6:1-7
“What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

“For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his. For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin— because anyone who has died has been set free from sin.”

As the means of Salvation: 1 Peter 3:19-22
“After being made alive, he (Jesus) went and made proclamation to the imprisoned spirits— to (KJV – “Like unto”) those who were disobedient long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built. In it only a few people, eight in all, were saved through water, and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also—not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a clear conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who has gone into heaven and is at God’s right hand—with angels, authorities and powers in submission to him.”

So, why wait ... become a follower of Jesus and let him bring hope to your life. If you would like to be baptized, call me at 317-966-1959 and we can chat about it. You know I love ya, Don
